Pakistan managed to win the last test at the Oval due to splendid double century from experienced and prolific run scorer Younis Khan. The batsman had a lean run over the course of three tests and came back with a greater resolve to deliver the goods for his side. He is the highest run scorer for Pakistan in test cricket and also holds the record for scoring most centuries for the side in the longer format.
Younis performance in the last game means that he has made his way into the top 10 Test Batsmen in the ICC Player Rankings. The leader of the pack is currently Australia’s Steve Smith who is still holds the top place in the table. India’s middle order player Ajinkya Rahane also has climbed to eight place due to consistently good performances on the tour of West Indies. New Zealand batsman Ross Taylor is also in rich vein of form with his crucial innings against Zimbabwe to help his sides win the series in a convincing fashion.
James Anderson is still at the top place for test bowlers in rankings despite modest showing in the last three tests against Pakistan closely followed by Ravi Ashwin who might overtake with India yet to play the final test against the West Indies.
