World Champions Australia aim for a strong show against Afghanistan

Pugnacious opener David Warner will be keen to make an impression with the bat against Afghanistan. On the other hand, Aaron Finch has been in splendid form and consistently produced big scores in the last couple of matches. The biggest worry will be the form of Mitchell Starc, who looked rusty with the ball in the warm-up game.

Leg-spinner Adam Zampa and off-spinner Nathan Lyon have done a fantastic job for the side in limited-overs cricket. The duo will be keen to do well in this opening game of 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup.

Australia have five fast bowlers in their squad and Pat Cummins will be the  key bowler  to  watch out in this year’s World Cup.

On the other hand, Afghanistan have their betting line up set but they’ll be looking to do experiments will their bowling line-up. They have included Hamid Hasan in their squad and just like Dawlat Zadran he’ll be looking to prove his coach wrong.

Mohammad Shahzad is doubtful starter for the game against Australia. Wicket-keeper will be looking to get back to full fitness. Noor Zadran and Najibullah Zadran will fight it out for a place in the playing XI.

The experience of Rahmat Shah, Asghar Afghan and Mohammad Nabi will need to deliver decent scores for the side.

Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman are world-class spinners that can pick up wickets for the side in this game. Mohammad Nabi is the capable off-spinner who can produce crucial breakthroughs with the new-ball.
