The forty-sixth game in the ninth edition of the Indian Premier League saw Sunrisers Hyderabad take on Kings XI Punjab at IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali.Ben Cutting and Yuvraj Singh struck big blows at the end to seal victory for their side by chasing down a score of 180 runs put up on the board by Kings XI Punjab. The loss meant that Kings XI Punjab is second side to be eliminated from the Indian Premier League as they failed to qualify for the later stages of the competition.
Yuvraj showed signs of good form as he struck unbeaten 42 runs off 24 balls while Ben Cutting who was playing his first game for the side in the competition also chipped in with vital runs. The reply for the Sunrisers Hyderabad was a good one as Warner and Dhawan put on 68 run partnership. David Warner departed after scoring 52 runs as he notched up his sixth half century of the competition. He was undone by a delivery from slow arm orthodox spinner Axar Patel.
Kings XI Punjab led by Murali Vijay won the toss and decided to bat first on hot day at Mohali. Hashim Amla provided good start to the innings as he struck boundaries effortlessly to increase rate of scoring. Sunrisers did bowl well in the first few overs as Amla capitalized to provide Kings XI with a solid start. He scored 96 runs off 56 balls to help his side post a total of 180 runs. The middle order batsmen like Wriddhiman Saha, David Miller and Gurkeerat Singh chipped in with vital runs.
The important thing for Sunrisers was that their batsmen put their hand in ensuring to win their eight game of the season and almost securing their place in playoffs.
