Warner produces a splendid ton as Australia seal the series at Sydney

Poor fielding from Pakistan hand Australia the series as Steve Smith’s men defeated Azhar Ali-led unit by 86 runs in the fourth ODI at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on Sunday.

Needing a win to stay alive in the series, the Men in Green had a horrid time in the field as they dropped five catches, which helped Australia post a mammoth 354-run target, courtesy opener David Warner’s 13th ODI century. The South paw scored 130 off 119 balls which included 11 fours and two sixes. He was well supported by late-order hitting from all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, who scored quick-fire 78 off 44 balls with the help of 10 fours and one six, and Travis Head’s 51 off 36 balls.

For Pakistan, young pacer Hasan Ali was the pick of the bowlers, as he claimed his first five-wicket haul and finished with the figures of five of 52 in his 10 overs.Chasing what would be the highest chase in country’s ODI history, team Pakistan was off to a flying start courtesy opener Sharjeel Khan’s blistering 74 off 47 balls, which featured 10 fours and three sixes. However, once he got out, the Green Caps could not manage to keep pace with improving run rate and was eventually bowled out for 267 in the 44th over. For Australia, young leg-spinner Adam Zampa and pacer Josh Hazlewood picked three wickets each.David Warner was awarded man of the match for his outstanding batting performance.
