Top 4 memorable performances of Ben Stokes

There is no doubt that Ben Stokes is currently best all-rounder in world-cricket. Talismanic England have certainly grown its stature and reputation as a cricketer over the years.

All-rounder was always dubbed as a special player and made his debut for England in 2011. He truly has reached an all-time high in cricket when he led from the front to help England win their maiden World Cup trophy on home soil. Even before that, Ben Stokes have delivered splendid performances for the side across all three formats. Surprisingly, he was was not picked for 2015 Cricket World Cup despite his excellent performances for England A side on the tour of South Africa.

In the second Test, England side was placed in a tricky situation with 223 for 5 after 67.5 overs when Stokes came to the crease. He looked positive from the outset as he smashed a couple of fours in his innings. The pitch also offered on the second day of Test as he went onto launched an onslaught on South African bowlers. He smashed his maiden double hundred and put on a record-399-run partnership to help England post a mammoth score of 629 runs in their first innings. He eventually went onto score 258 runs off 198 balls with the help of 30 fours and 11 sixes.

There were a lot of question marks whether Ben Stokes could deliver the goods with bat and ball in typical sub-continent conditions. Despite not doing with the bat in the first innings, Stokes bowled exceptionally well and claimed four wickets to see England take a slender lead going into their second innings.

On a weary surface, Stokes produced his best batting performance and finished the innings with the top-score of 85 runs. Due to his herculean efforts, England managed to post a competitive total on the board. He picked up two wickets in the second innings to see England win the game by 22 runs.

All-rounder Ben Stokes scored 92 runs off 94 balls to help England post 389 runs in their first innings. In reply, New Zealand posted a mammoth 532 runs, courtesy splendid century from Kane Williamson. With England trailing by 134 runs, Stokes put on a 132-run partnership with Alastair Cook to help the side post a competitive score in their second innings.  Defending  344 runs, Stokes claimed three wickets to see England win the game by 124 runs.

With England losing their openers quickly while chasing a tough target of 359 runs, Ben Stokes played a majestic innings to pull off an improbable win for the side against New Zealand.  He looked positive in his innings as he went produce decent partnerships with Joe Root and Jos Buttler to keep the side in the hunt to win the game.

Many cricket pundits described Stokes as the best innings delivered by Englishmen in Test cricket. He produced a 76-run partnership with Jack Leach to help England register an incredible win at Headingley in Leeds. Stokes also delivered yet another performance to keep England keep their hopes alive in the Ashes series.
