After winning their maiden World Cup on home soil, England will be looking to start their home summer on a positive note. Eoin Morgan-led unit will lock horns with Ireland in a three-match one-day series that starts from 30th July.
With premier bowlers like Jofra Archer, Mark Wood and Chris Woakes rested for this series; there will be opportunity for other bowlers to make an impression with the ball against Ireland.
Experienced duo of Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali will give the home side much needed control in the middle overs of the innings.
For this three-match ODI series, let’s take a look at the three bowlers that can deliver the goods for England.
There is no doubt that Adil Rashid has been England’s premier spinner in white-ball cricket. He has played a key role in England becoming a dominant unit in white-ball cricket and going on to win their maiden World Cup trophy last year.
The 32-year old has the ability to pick up wickets for England in the middle-overs of the innings. Since Jan 2019, Adil Rashid has claimed 28 wickets in 23 one-day matches at an average of 35.85.
After his long sabbatical from Test cricket, all-rounder Moeen Ali will be looking to make an impact for the side against Ireland.
He is certainly another bowler who can deliver crucial wickets for the side in limited-overs cricket. Since Jan 2019, Moeen Ali numbers have not been that great in one-day cricket. In 16 matches played for England, he has only taken 7 wickets at an average of 95.28.
He will be keen to prove his critics wrong and deliver the goods with his off-spin bowling.
The 30-year old was not included in England squad for 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup played last year. Left-arm quick has the ability to swing the new-ball in limited-overs cricket. He has been a consistent performer for the side in the 50-over format.
In 47 ODIs played for England, David Willey has claimed 57 wickets at an average of 33.66 with two four-wicket hauls and one five-wicket haul.
There is no doubt that Willey will determined to make a big impact in this three-match series.
