The hosts India have started the one day series on a right note after notching up a comfortable win over New Zealand at Dharamsala in the first game. The side has suffered a setback of sorts as Suresh Raina will not take part in the second game of the series at Delhi as he has not fully recovered from a viral that saw him get ruled out of the opening match.
The experienced southpaw for India made his return into one day squad after last playing for Men in Blue against South Africa at home last year. He was not selected for the tour to Australia. He was a part of Indian team for the tournaments like Asia Cup and WorldT20 but could not produce big scores in that period.
Raina was on a lean run before he was dropped from the side. He came into the one day in the year 2005 and cemented his place in the side in a star studded lineup for a large part of next decade by putting in some match winning performances in big tournaments like World Cup 2011 held in India. He was also useful with the ball in hand and did provide vital wickets for captain when required. Raina is a seasoned one day player who has scored over 5000 runs at an average of 35 with five tons from 223 games played representing India. He also holds a unique feat of being the only Indian batsman to have scored a hundred across all three formats of the game.
