St Kitts and Nevis Patriots prevail over Barbados Tridents in rain-affected game

Kieron Pollard put on a valiant display with the bat but could not prevent as Barbados Tridents lost the game to St Kitts and Nevis Patriots by 17 runs via Duckworth Lewis method (D/L). In game affected by rain, Patriots started the chase well as they looked well ahead of the required score when play was called-off as heavy rains slashed across the ground.

Tridents could not string together a disciplined bowling performance as Akeal Hossain had a forgettable evening with the ball. The spinner bowled poorly in the first over to see Patriots gain advantage from the outset. Evin Lewis perished in pursuit of quick runs but Chris Gayle played well to score an unbeaten 38 runs to help his side register their fourth win of the season. Gayle added 70 runs with Mohammad Hafeez to see the side going at a good rate.

Patriots won the toss and decided to field first. Tridents lost Kane Williamson and CD Barnwell but Dwayne Smith played well for his 33 runs off 16 balls. Shoaib Malik looked scratchy at the crease but fought hard to score 24 runs. Malik eventually got dismissed to see Tridents get reduced to 89 for 5 after 12.4 overs.

Kieron Pollard came to the crease with side in a deep trouble. He played well under circumstances to add 57 runs with Nicholas Pooran. Pollard looked in ominous form as he bludgeoned the bowlers to all parts of the ground. He smoked six sixes to score unbeaten 63 runs off 40 balls while Pooran also chipped with 14-ball 20 runs to see Tridents post 168 runs from their 20 overs.
