Srilanka produced a marvelous effort with the bat to seal the show from South Africa at Cape Town and clinch the t20 series by 2-1.The man of the moment for Srilanka was Niroshan Dickwella who scored a splendid fifty to give his side an ideal start to chase a score of 169 runs posted by South Africa in their innings.
Seekkuge Prasanna played a match winning cameo under pressure to stun South Africa as the visitors won the game by five wickets. Wayne Parnell came into the attack to end a good opening stand between Upul Tharanga and Niroshan Dickwella as the first wicket went down for 36 runs in the 4th over of the innings.
Tahir dismissed Dinesh Chandimal and Dhananjaya de Silva to keep his side in the game as Niroshan Dickwella notched up his half century off 34 balls. Dickwella fell for 68 runs as he was caught by Farhan Behardien to see the side placed at 118 for 4 after 16 overs. Prasanna really put on a show with the bat as he scored an unbeaten 37 runs off 16 balls to help his side achieve a famous series in South Africa.
South Africa won the toss and batted first on decent batting strip prepared for the game.AB de Villiers top scored for the hosts with 63 runs announcing his comeback into international cricket in style after sitting on the sidelines for a period of seven months. Reeza Hendricks scored 41 runs and put on 71-run stand with de Villiers to see the side post 169 runs from 20 overs.
Srilanka will be delighted with the series win against South Africa after suffering torrid time in the test series. The visitors will be gearing up for the one day series and will be confident of performing well in the one day series that starts on 28th January. South Africa will look to address their shortcomings and come hard against Srilankans in the 50-over format.
