Srilanka announces 16-man squad for the first two one day games against Australia

After completing a whitewash on Australia in the test series, Srilanka has announced their one day squad for the first two games of the bilateral one day series against Australia. The first game will be played on 21st August. The hosts have included a number of new faces and also seen the return of experienced player Tilakaratne Dilshan who missed the tour of England earlier this summer.

Left arm spinner Amila Aponso has been included in the Srilankan squad as well Avishka Fernando who had given commendable performances for U-19 side against South Africa and England. Avishka Fernando is aggressive player with the bat as he notched up consecutive hundreds against England while Aponso grabbed 13 wickets in the four day game played against Emerging South Africa XI.Aponso has performed well at the domestic circuit having grabbed 29 wickets in 21 games played with an economy of 3.71 in the limited overs format.

Srilanka has found renewed confidence after a complete domination of Australia in the Test series to inflict a whitewash on the visitors. Angelo Matthews expects youngsters to perform well and make a mark on the international scene as Australia are no.1 side in one day cricket.
