Visitors face hosts in first of three-T20I series in Cuttack on Wednesday

Sri Lanka must be sensing an opportunity to grab a series win under their belt when they will face new-look India in the first-T20I of the three-match series in Cuttack on Wednesday.The tour is being not so bad for the visitors, who managed to register two draws out of three Tests and also earned a sensational victory in the first ODI of the recently concluded three-match series.

Therefore, Thisara Perera-led unit will feel fairly confident going in to the Wednesday’s encounter.In the batting department, the Islanders will be depending on the likes of veteran all-rounder Angelo Mathews and opener Upul Tharanga, who are in more than decent form with the bat and the team management will be optimistic that they can continue their good run.

In the fast-bowling department, the team will be depending on the likes of Nuwan Pradeep and Dushmantha Chameera and captain Perera himself, whereas in the spin department, the focus will be on young mystery spinner Akila Dananjaya.

For India, this will be a unique series where experienced pros like captain Virat Kohli, opener Shikhar Dhawan and Ajinkya Rahane will not be the part of the final eleven.In their absence, the focus will be on stand-in captain Rohit Sharma to lead from the front, and he will be accompanied by seasoned campaigners like Dinesh Karthik and Manish Panday.

In the lower middle-order, the onus will be on former captain and wicket keeper-batsman MS Dhoni and all-rounder Hardik Pandya to make sure that the team will finish on a strong note.In the fast-bowling department, Japrit Bumrah will lead in the absence of the likes of Mohammad Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, whereas in the spin department, young leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav will share the burden.

The pitch is expected to produce high-score encounter, whereas the weather is expected to stay fine throughout.
