Left-arm seamer Sohail Tanvir stole the show with the ball to help Guyana Amazon Warriors complete a comprehensive win over Barbados Tridents. Guyana scored 159 while batting first as it would too much for Tridents, who were bundled out for just 59 runs.
Tanvir bagged five wickets in the game and was chief destroyer with the ball. Dwayne Smith and Kane Williamson were dismissed early in the innings by him. Tridents were reeling at 13 for 3 before Tanvir dismissed Eoin Morgan and Kieron Pollard in quick succession to see half he side gone inside five overs. Nicholas Pooran, Shamar Springer and Akeal Hossain were the only three batsmen to reach double figures in the innings as Tridents were dismissed for 59 in the 13th over. Leg-spinner Rashid Khan also took three wickets in the game for Guyana.
Earlier in the day, Guyana Warriors started positively with Chadwick Walton and Luke Ronchi producing quick-fire 20s at the top of the order. They accumulated 50 runs inside the Powerplay overs. Spinners came on for Tridents and put on a choke hold on Guyana’s batting lineup as they slumped to 107 for 5 after 14.3 overs.
Jason Mohammad top scored with 42 runs for Guyana and was the player who helped the side get a good score on the board. Asad Fudadin and Roshon Primus also played crucial at the innings to see Guyana get 159 runs from their full quota of overs. The spin duo of Akeal Hossain and Imran Khan conceded only 38 runs from eight overs.
