Shakib’s all round performance helps Jamaica Tallawahs overcome Guyana Amazon Warriors by five wickets

The 15th game of the Caribbean Premier League saw battle between the top two teams as Guyana Amazon Warriors came up against Jamaica Tallawahs. The game was played at Sabina Park, Kingston in Jamaica.

Jamaica Tallawahs did manage to pull off a win in the chase after the side was reeling at 2 for 4 after the first over. Shakib-ul-Hasan scored unbeaten 54 runs off 47 balls and hit seven boundaries in his innings. He formed an unbeaten 87 run stand along with Chris Gayle who came late in the order after suffering from a back injury in the first innings while fielding. The win helped  Jamaica climb to second position in the table standings in the season while Amazon Warriors were placed at the top despite losing the game.

Sohail Tanvir picked up two wickets in the first over of the innings to provide ideal start for Guyana Amazon Warriors. Jamaica Tallawahs were four wickets down in the first over in the chase leaving the crowd stunned. André Russell came to the crease and played his aggressive game as he struck a four and six to score 24 runs off 15 balls.He was ultimately dismissed by leg spinner Adam Zampa in the fifth over. Gayle walked out to the crease and formed a match winning partnership with Shakib-ul-Hasan to take the side to win the game in the 16th over by five wickets.

Earlier in the day, Amazon batted first as captain Martin Guptill went for a duck while Chris Lynn put in another vital contribution by scoring 33 runs off 18 balls. Jason Mohammad top scored 46 runs off 51 balls to help his side to post 128 runs from 20 overs. Dale Steyn finished with two wickets and conceded 31 runs while the pick of the bowlers was Pakistani left arm orthodox spinner Imad Wasim who finished with figure of 2 for 12 after four overs.
