Shakib’s all-round heroics helps Bangladesh beat Zimbabwe by four wickets

Bowlers delivered a spectacular performance followed by Shakib Al Hasan brilliant innings with the bat as Bangladesh beat Afghanistan by four wickets in the 6th T20I game of Bangladesh Tri-series played at Chattogram on Saturday.

The day started with Bangladesh Captain Shakib Al Hasan winning the toss and opting to bowl first.Afghanistan got off to a solid start and at one stage, were looking to set a competitive total of 170 runs as they reached to 75 for the loss of only one wicket in the ninth over.

However, a major collapse, where Afghanistan lost six wickets and added 63 runs to see them finished with a modest score of 138 for the loss of seven wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

Hazratullah Zazai was the standout for Afghanistan in this game and scored 47 off 35 balls with the help of six fours and two sixes. He put on a 75-run partnership with wicket-keeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz continued his good form with the bat and scored 29 off 27 balls with the help of two fours and two sixes.

For Bangladesh, pacer Mohammad Saifuddin, Shakib Al Hasan and Shafiul Islam produced excellent spells for the side and picked one wicket each.

Host Bangladesh produced a hard-fought win over Zimbabwe in a game played on Saturday.

Chasing 139 runs to win the game, Bangladesh got off to a worse possible start as Liton Das and Najmul Hossain Shanto perished for low scores.

Captain Shakib Al Hasan and wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim steadied the ship with 58-run third-wicket partnership. Mahmudullah, Sabbir Rahman and Afif Hossain perished in quick succession to see Bangladesh in a tricky situation at 104 for 6 after 15.5 overs.

With 35 runs needed off the last four overs, Shakib Al Hasan produced a spectacular batting performance to steer his side to a comfortable win. Left-handed batsman was the standout batsman and finished the innings with unbeaten 70 off 45 balls with the help of eight boundaries.He was well supported by Mushfiqur, who chipped in with 26 off 25 balls with the help of one six.

The final game of 2019 Bangladesh T20 Tri series will be played on Tuesday at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
