Bangladesh is set to tour New Zealand to play three ODIs followed by three T20Is, starting from March 20th. The visitors have arrived in New Zealand and will go through mandatory quarantine period for playing their limited-overs series.
Shakib Al Hasan is on a paternity leave and will not be available for this series. Mahedi Hasan, Shoriful Islam and Nasum Ahmed are some of the promising players included in the ODI squad for the upcoming three-match series against New Zealand.
Veteran opener Tamim Iqbal will captain the limited-overs side for the three-match series. The visitors will be relying on experienced players like Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah, and Mushfiqur Rahim to deliver the bulk of the runs. Wicket-keeper Liton Das, Rubel Hossain and Soumya Sarkar have shown the ability to win games for Bangladesh in the 50-over format.
In the bowling department, Mustafizur Rahman, Al-Amin Hossain, Mohammad Saifuddin and Taskin Ahmed are prominent pace options for the side. Mehidy Hasan Miraaz, Mahedi Hasan, Afif Hossain and Mosaddek Hossain are spinners named in the limited-overs squad for the series.
On the other hand, Kane Williamson has been rested for the ODI series. Tom Latham will take over as captain of the side for the three-match series. The likes of Will Young, Mark Chapman, Devon Conway, and Daryl Mitchell have been retained after doing well for New Zealand in the past six months.
In the absence of Williamson, the onus will be on the experienced duo of Martin Guptill and Ross Taylor to deliver the bulk of the runs. Besides Guptill and Taylor, James Neesham, Henry Nicholls and Tom Latham have done reasonably for the side in limited-overs cricket.
Trent Boult, Tim Southee, Matt Henry and Kyle Jamieson will four prominent seamers for this series, while Mitchell Santner is the lone spinner named in the limited-overs squad for the three-match series.
