West Indies is scheduled to tour India in the month of December to play three T20Is followed by Three ODIs. West Indies Captain Kieron Pollard will be hoping that the side can continue their good form in this series. Recently, the side comfortably brushed aside Afghanistan in the T20 and ODI series.
On the other hand, BCCI have announced the T20 and ODI squads for the home series against West Indies. Virat Kohli will lead the side in both the formats. Mohammad Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar have been included in both the squads. Khaleel Ahmed and Shardul Thakur have been dropped despite doing well in the previous series against Bangladesh.
Left-arm Chinaman Kuldeep Yadav also makes his return to both the squads. Pacer Deepak Chahar and all-rounder Shivam Dube have been retained in ODI and T20I squads for the West Indies series.
Kieron Pollard-led unit will be well accustomed to the conditions after playing their previous series against Afghanistan in India. All the matches were played at Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Stadium in Lucknow. The side is currently taking on Afghanistan in the one-off Test match that will start from 27th November.
In the ODI series, Shai Hope and Roston Chase were the standout performers for the side in the batting department. In the bowling department, Sheldon Cottrell and Hayden Walsh Jr. were star performers in the three-match one-day series played against Afghanistan.
In the three-match T20I series, opening batsman Evin Lewis and pacer Kesrick Williams did exceedingly well for the side against Afghanistan. Lewis accumulated 106 runs at an average of 35.33, while Kesrick Williams claimed 8 wickets with an economy rate of 5.92.
Captain Kieron Pollard and co. will kick-start their tour with three-match T20I series that starts from Mumbai. The opening game of the T20I series will be played on 6th December. The second and third game of the T20I series will be played at Thiruvananthapuram and Hyderabad on 8th and 11th December respectively.
The visitors will the take on India in three-match one-day series that starts from 15th December in Chennai. The second and third game of the series will be played in venues like Visakhapatnam and Cuttack on 18th and 22nd December respectively.
It is certainly going to be an interesting series as West Indies have done exceedingly well against Afghanistan in sub-continent conditions.
