Schedule, Fixtures for 2020 Caribbean Premier League

The seventh edition of Caribbean Premier League will be played in Trinidad and Tobago. The tournament will go as scheduled after getting approval from government authorities in Trinidad and Tobago.

2020 Caribbean Premier League will be played in the month of August and September. A total of 33 matches will be played from 18th August till 10th September. Trinbago Knight Riders, Guyana Amazon Warriors, St Lucia Zouks, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, Barbados Tridents and Jamaica Tallawahs are the six franchises that will participate in this year’s competition.

Last year, Barbados Tridents defeated Guyana Amazon Warriors to clinch their second CPL trophy.  Three-time Champions Trinbago Knight Riders fell agonizingly short of playing their third successive final. They suffered defeat at the hands of Barbados Tridents in the Qualifier 2 game played.

For the first time, Jamaica Tallawahs endured their worst campaign and failed to make it to the playoffs of the competition. Captain Chris Gayle had huge fallout with team management and left the franchise after accusing his former West Indies team-mate of undermining him in various situations. Two-time Champions will be looking to make a strong comeback in this year’s competition.

All the matches will be played at Queens Park Oval and Brian Lara Cricket Stadium in Trinidad and Tobago.

Defending Champions Barbados Tridents have signed Afghanistan Leg-spinner Rashid Khan to bolster the bowling resources for the coming season. Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis and England opener Alex Hales will be high-profile players for Tridents this season.

New Zealand’s Ross Taylor has been signed by Guyana Amazon Warriors for this year’s competition.  Leg-spinner Pravin Tambe has become the first Indian player to participate in 2020 Caribbean Premier League.

South African batting duo of Rilee Rossouw and Colin Ingram has been signed by St. Lucia Zouks to increase their batting resources for the coming season. South African pacer Anrich Nortje will also make his first appearance for St Lucia Zouks this season. Darren Sammy-led unit will be looking to change their fortunes this time around.

St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots will be keen to go the distance in this year’s competition. Rayad Emrit will lead the side for this year’s tournament.

South African middle-order batsman Rassie van der Dussen has been signed by Patriots for the seventh edition of the league.
