Sam Billings and Karun Nair help Delhi Daredevils upstage Kolkata Knight Riders by 25 runs

The twenty-sixth game in the ninth edition of the Indian Premier League saw the battle set for top place as Delhi Daredevils took on Kolkata Knight Riders at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium,Delhi.

Gautam Gambhir won the toss and decided to field first as Delhi Daredevils were put into batting first on the good surface produced at Delhi.The start was bad for Daredevils as medium pacer Andre Russell made early inroads into the top order by taking key wickets of Quinton de Kock and SS Iyer.Sanju Samson also went for 15 making it a tricky position for Delhi Daredevils who were 32 for 3 after 5 overs.Karun Nair and Sam Billings with Delhi under pressure arrived at the crease and started the innings revival as they put on a 105 partnership.Karun Nair played a solid knock given the situation as he scored 68 runs off 50 balls.He struck nine boundaries and one six in his innings.While Sam Billings also produced a breezy half century off  33 balls and Carlos Brathwaite cameo of 34 runs to help Delhi Daredevils to put up a competitive score of 186 runs after 20 overs.

The Kolkata Knight Riders reply was jolted by the fall of early wickets as both Gambhir and Chawla were dismissed in quick succession by Delhi captain and spearhead Zaheer Khan.Robin Uthappa playing as opener for Knight Riders maintained his good form as he scored 72 runs off 52 balls while wickets kept tumbling at the other end.Carlos Brathwaite was star with the ball as he took three wickets to put Delhi Daredevils in deep trouble with 107 runs for the loss of five wickets in the 13th over.

Though he combined with Andre Russell to establish a 44 run partnership but in the end it was too late as Delhi Daredevils registered their fourth win of the season to go second in table standings in the Indian Premier League while Kolkata Knight Riders are behind them at close at  third place.
