Rohit Sharma scored a brilliant hundred and pacer Japrit Bumrah delivered under pressure to help India beat New Zealand by six runs in a nail-biter in Kanpur on Sunday. The day started with New Zealand captain Kane Williamson winning the toss and opting to bowl first.
His decision proved a disastrous one as the hosts posted mammoth 337 for the loss of six wickets in their allotted 50 overs, courtesy brilliant 230-run second wicket partnership between Sharma and captain Virat Kohli. Sharma finished the innings with the top score of 147 off 138 with the help of 18 fours and two sixes, whereas Kohli smashed his 32nd ODI century and scored 113 off 106 with the help of nine fours and one six.

However, neither Williamson nor Munro managed to get a big one and got out in quick succession, which gave hosts a way back into the contest.
New Zealand remained in hunt, thanks to brilliant batting performance from wicketkeeper-batsman Tom Latham, but his heroics could not take the side home as the Black Caps ended up seven runs short of the target.
Pacer Bumrah was the standout performer for the hosts, as he claimed three wickets and just gave away 47 runs in his 10 overs. He was well supported by leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who claimed two wickets. For New Zealand, Munro finished the innings with the top score of 75 off 62 with the help of eight fours and three sixes.
