India suffered a setback going to a big series against England as middle order batsman Rohit Sharma is ruled out of the series due to thigh injury. Rohit Sharma did play the three match series against New Zealand and also played all the one day games that followed. The batsman did suffer the injury in the last one day game against New Zealand at Visakhapatnam. He is certainly going to be out of action for at least 8 weeks as denoted by the selection committee.
Rohit Sharma might also undergo a surgery depending on the kind of straining and damage done to his thigh.He has suffered a lot of ups and downs in terms of his test career but has certainly established his name in the one day format. He has played 21 games for India in Test Cricket and scored 1184 runs so far in his short career. India as a home side definitely will be looking to find an adequate replacement as losing an experienced head in the middle order like Rohit Sharma does mean putting more pressure on the likes of Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane.
India has called up batsman Karun Nair for the series against England as Hardik Pandya and Jayant Yadav have been included in the setup for the first two tests.
