Rohit Sharma leads the way as Mumbai Indians win by 6 wickets against Kolkata Knight Riders

The Defending Champions Mumbai Indians locked horns against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens,Kolkata in the fifth game in the ninth edition of the Indian Premier League.

There was some weird instances of strategy as Michell McClenaghan came out to bat at no.4 for Mumbai Indians ahead of dangerous player Jos Butler.Though the ploy worked as McClenaghan scored 20 runs off 8 runs as the game went in the favor of Mumbai Indians in the space of five overs from 10th till 15th over.

Jos Butler provided the ideal tonic for the chase with a 22 ball 41 striking three massive sixes to steer his side victory by 6 wickets.Rohit Sharma led the way from the front for the Mumbai Indians with a crafty 84 runs off 54 balls that included ten fours and two sixes to provide ideal platform for his side inĀ  the chase to overcome a daunting target of 187 runs set by Kolkata Knight Riders.

Earlier in the day,Knight Riders were put into bat first as Rohit Sharma won the toss for Mumbai Indians and elected to field first.Manish Pandey and Gautam Gambhir chipped with important fifties while Andre Russell 17 ball 36 runs at the end propelled the Knight Riders to score over 180 runs in their full allotted overs.The win gave Mumbai Indians a good start to defend their title while Kolkata Knight Riders have some issues in terms of mauling all three spinners took in the game against Mumbai.
