Rising Pune Supergiants rout Kings XI Punjab to qualify for the playoffs

Rising Pune Supergiants produced a dominant display with the ball to dismiss Kings XI Punjab for a paltry score of 74 runs in the 55th game of Indian Premier League played at Maharashtra Cricket Association in Pune.

Rahul Tripathi and Ajinkya Rahane started off the chase well as they add 41-run opening stand. Axar Patel dismissed Tripathi for 28 runs but Rahane and Steve Smith continued the good work to see home to win the game in the 12th over. With this win, Rising Pune Supergiants sealed their place in the playoffs as they will face Mumbai Indians in the Qualifier 1 of Indian Premier League at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Earlier, Steven Smith won the toss for Rising Pune Supergiants and elected to bowl first Kings XI never really got going as the visitors lost half their side with 32 runs on the board. The side folded for 73 runs in the 15.5 overs as Shardul Thakur picked up three wickets while Adam Zampa and Jaydev Unadkat picked up two wickets apiece.
