The forty-ninth game in the ninth edition of the Indian Premier League saw Delhi Daredevils hopes dashed in pursuit of making it through to the playoffs as Rising Pune sprung a surprise to win the game by 19 runs via Duckworth Lewis method. The game was played at ADC-VDCA in Visakhapatnam.

The bowlers for Rising Pune Supergiants stood up and performed splendidly well to restrict Delhi Daredevils for a below par score of 121 runs in 20 overs.Ashok Dinda was excellent upfront with his pace and length as he caused a lot of problems for the opposition batsmen.Ravi Ashwin and Adam Zampa also found some turn and performed according to the set plans by MS Dhoni.

MS Dhoni won the toss and decided to bowl first on a pitch which was quite similar in texture to the previous two games played here in Visakhapatnam.Karun Nair was the only batsman who got a substantial score for the side as he struck 41 runs while the rest failed clearly misreading the conditions and giving their wickets away at regular intervals.Chris Morris cameo at the end did help his side to push the score over 120 run mark as he struck 38 runs off 20 balls that included four fours and two sixes.

Ajinkya Rahane and Usman Khuwaja began the chase well as they played their shots and picked up boundaries when bowlers erred on line and length.Usman Khuwaja was eventually dismissed giving his wicket as he sliced a delivery from Chris Morris to backward point for 19 runs.Ajinkya Rahane was still at the crease and played a composed innings of 42 runs off 36 balls to see his side to win the game by 19 runs as rain came down heavily to see the game being decided on Duckworth Lewis method.

The loss for Delhi Daredevils means that they will have to win their next games by large margin to improve run rate if the top 4 standings are decided on the basis of which team has the better run-rate in the Indian Premier League this season.
