Rising Pune Supergiant are certainly climb up the ladder in the points table as they defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 34th game of Indian Premier League. Royal Challengers chances of making it to the last four look next to impossible now as side could only muster 96 runs from their 20 overs while chasing a target of 157 runs posted by Pune.
Gayle was dropped for the game but results remained the same as Royal Challengers could not simply deliver the goods. Virat Kohli stood head and above with his 55 runs off 48 balls while AB de Villiers and Kedhar Jadhav failed to make any impact in this game to see Bangalore concede their seventh defeat of tenth edition of Indian Premier League.
Earlier, Pune batted first as Rahul Tripathi and Steven Smith laid down an ideal platform for the side with useful knocks at the top of the order. Smith fell for 45 runs as he added 50 runs with Tiwary to see the side cross 150-run mark in their full quota of overs. Tiwary produced a superb innings at the end to remain unbeaten on 44 runs off 35 balls to see Pune register 157 runs off 20 overs.
Rising Pune Supergiant are now at fourth place with 10 points from 9 games played so far in the competition while Royal Challengers Bangalore must win their remaining games to stay relevant in the Indian Premier League 2017.
