Dilshan’s sublime innings of 83 leads Srilanka to topple Afghanistan by 6 wickets

Afghanistan has shown promise from their performances in the qualifying round as they came up against a new look Srilankan side at the Eden Gardens,Kolkata in ICC T20 World Cup 2016 .Afghanistan won the toss and decided to post a good total on the board.The start was scratchy as they lost opener Mohammad Shehzad early in the innings while Noor Ali Zadran scored a breezy 20 runs and was undone by guile of left arm spinner Rangana Herath.

The Skipper for Afghanistan Asghar Stanikzai played wonderfully well for his 62 off 47 balls that included three fours and four sixes and anchored the whole team together while others fell around and gave their wickets away.

The late impetus to the innings was provided by Samiullah Shinwari who scored 31 runs off 14 balls that included  three fours and two sixes to take Afghanistan to post a total of 153 runs after 20 overs.

In reply,Srilanka got off to rollicking start with the openers Dinesh Chandimal and Tilakaratne Dilshan scoring almost eight runs an over.Dinesh Chandimal got dismissed for 18 runs as he was taken out by right arm off break bowler Mohammad  Nabi,

Tilakaratne Dilshan scored a terrific 83 runs off 56 balls and made sure he stayed till the end to see Srilanka  comfortably win by 6 wickets alongside Skipper Angelo Matthews who was unbeaten on 21 runs.

Afghanistan showed great promise and determination but failed to grab the key moments as Srilanka got a crucial win in all important group of Super 1O in the T20 World Cup 2016
