Pooran hits career-best 81 runs as Barbados Tridents defeat St.Lucia Zouks by 25 runs

The 18th game in the Caribbean Premier League 2016 saw a contest between St. Lucia Zouks against Barbados Tridents played at Bridgetown in Barbados. Darren Sammy won the toss for Zouks and elected to bowl first.

Barbados Tridents did pull off a 25 run win due to mesmerizing display by 20 year old wicket-keeper batsman Nicholas Pooran who scored his best score of 81 runs off 39 balls to help his side post 173 runs after 20 overs. Tridents were placed at 51 for 2 after half way mark and needed a push in the scoring rate as de Villiers started the procession by scoring 32 runs off 22 balls.He struck three fours and a six in his innings and shared a partnership of 68 runs with Nicholas Pooran to stabilize the innings.AB de Villiers was dismissed in the 16th over but Pooran carried till the end to score 81 runs off 39 balls.He scored nine boundaries and four sixes in his innings.

St. Lucia Zouks got off to a decent start but no one in the batsmen got a big score for the side to have a chance of winning the game. André Fletcher scored 20 runs which was the highest score of the innings while the rest got starts and threw their wicket away to end up losing the game by 25 runs. Wayne Parnell and Ravi Rampaul were impressive on the night as both grabbed wickets each to defend a score of 173 runs posted by Tridents.

Barbados Tridents did manage to get their third victory out of six games played in this season while Zouks are lingering at the bottom of the table.
