Kieron Pollard delivered a scintillating batting performance to help Mumbai Indians upstage Kings XI Punjab in a game played in Mumbai. Kings XI posted a competitive score courtesy splendid century from Lokesh Rahul. In reply, Pollard played a blinder of an innings to see Mumbai pull off a heist in front of their home crowds.
Chasing 198 to win, Debutant Siddhesh Lad and Quinton de Kock got Mumbai off to a brisk start. De Kock smashed two boundaries in the third overs of the innings to see Mumbai scoring at a good rate. Pace-bowler Mohammad Shami produced a searing yorker to dismiss Siddhesh in the fourth over of the innings.
Suryakumar Yadav came to the crease and started positively from the outset. He smashed four boundaries in his first ten deliveries to see Mumbai race to 50 runs in the Powerplay overs. Left-arm pacer Sam Curran dismissed Yadav to see Mumbai lose their second wicket with 56 runs on the board. De Kock also could not last any longer as Kings XI captain Ravi Ashwin dismissed him to see Mumbai placed in a precarious situation.
Ishan Kishan also perished for a low score to see Mumbai in deep trouble. Stand-in captain Kieron Pollard produced a counter-attacking innings to keep Mumbai in the hunt to win the game. He went after the likes of Ashwin and Curran to see Mumbai needing 70 runs off 36 balls to win the game.
Mohammad Shami and Hardus Viljeon bowled tidy overs to pull things back for Kings XI Punjab. Shami picked two wickets of Krunal Pandya and Hardik Pandya to put Kings XI in control of the game. Pollard continued to play his shots and smashed two sixes off the bowling of Curran to see Mumbai needing 15 runs off the last over.
Pollard took the strike and took 11 runs off the bowling of Ankit Rajpoot to take Mumbai close in on an incredible win. However, Rajpoot dismissed Pollard to keep Kings XI in the game. Tail-ender Alzarri Joseph hit the winning runs to see Mumbai win the game by three wickets.

Lokesh Rahul decided to take the attack and smashed a six in the fourth over of the innings. On the other hand, Chris Gayle also decided to open his arms and smashed three sixes off the bowling of Jason Behrendorff to see the momentum shift in favor of Kings XI.
Rahul continued to attack and took 13 overs off the bowling of Alzarri Joseph. Gayle smashed two fours and a six in the ninth over to see Kings XI bring up their 100 runs. Left-hander perished in the 13th over while trying to for another big shot. He scored 63 off 36 balls with the help of seven sixes.
The departure of Gayle brought Mumbai Indians back into the game. The home side picked up quick wickets of David Miller and Karun Nair to see Kings XI Punjab lose momentum at the back end of the innings.
Lokesh Rahul notched up his half-century and looked focused in his inning despite losing players at the other end. Sam Curran also perished for just 8 runs as Jaspreet Bumrah picked up first wicket of the innings.
Rahul then shifted gears and went berserk in the final over of the innings to see Pandya concede 25 runs in his final over. He also brought up his century in the final over to see Kings XI post 197 for 4 in 20 overs.
