Perth Scorcher dismantle Sydney Thunders by a big margin to claim top spot in Big Bash League

The 13th game of the Big Bash League saw Perth Scorchers continue their good of run with a comprehensive win against reigning champions Sydney Thunder in game played at Perth. The game went accordingly to plan for Scorchers who batted first and scored 177 runs from their 20 overs.

Shaun Marsh fell early in the first over but side quickly regrouped as Michael Klinger and Ian Bell put on an 85 run partnership to help their side post a competitive score on the board. Bell has been in good form for Scorchers as he top scored with 45 runs off 38 balls while Klinger also scored 38 runs before Shane Watson dismissed him in the 10th over. Mitchell Marsh did play role of aggressor in the end overs to a tee as he struck unbeaten 44 runs off 27 balls while Ashton Turner also chipped with 20 runs.

The visitors failed to impress as they fell miserably in the pursuit of the target posted by Perth Scorchers. The side was reduced to 48 for 5 after 9 overs as David Willey and Adam Tye continued to produce impressive bowling performances to help their side register 50 run victory over Thunder..

Reigning Champs Thunder has failed to cope without the services of players like Usman Khuwaja who is busy playing for Australia. The reigning champions have no longer in their ranks guys like Michael Hussey and Jacques Kallis. The all-rounder in Shane Watson and Andre Russell have been not up to the mark with their performances in the games played so far for Sydney Thunder. Perth Scorchers are turning out to be big contenders for the trophy after claiming top spot in the league standings while Thunder’s campaign has been abysmal to say the least as they find themselves sitting in the last spot in the league.
