Pakistan has arrived in New Zealand to play two match test series after their successful home tour against West Indies played at UAE in all three formats. Misbah-ul-Haq’s side did suffer a shock defeat in the last test played at Sharjah as complacency might have crept in players after clinching the series in the second game.
Pakistan does have good side as openers Sami Aslam and Azhar Ali provided good starts in the series while Asad Shafiq at no.3 looks compact as a player to take more responsibility. The middle order consists of seasoned players in Younis Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq who have chipped in with incredible performances whenever the side was in deep trouble in a game. Sarfaraz Ahmed is shifting gears as a batsman and is good gloves man behind the stumps.
The bowlers are also doing a fine job at the moment with Sohail Khan, Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Amir picking up wickets in the games played against England and West Indies. The ace spinner Yasir Shah keeps taking up wickets and seldom disappoints with the ball.
New Zealand on the other hand had to endure forgettable three months after being brushed by South Africa in South Africa and mauled by India in subcontinent pitches led to a convincing whitewash in the test series.
Kane Williamson has a lot to worry at the moment as the captain of the side as his form has also taken a slide due to team’s continuous poor showing in the format. The likes of Martin Guptill and Ross Taylor did suffer from loss of form in the last two months to see New Zealand in dire straits as only Tom Latham turned to be man who performed incredibly in India despite lack of support at the other end.
The bowling lineup has been great as opening pair Trent Boult and Tim Southee have been impressive with the ball. The likes of Mitchell Santner and Ish Sodhi performed well in India as hosts are best players of spin in the world.
It will be interesting short series as Pakistan and New Zealand will slug it out in two tests in the month of November. The fixtures for Pakistan tour to New Zealand as listed below as following:
