Pakistan trounce Bangladesh by 55 runs in T20 World Cup 2016

The recent form for Pakistan has been woeful to say the least but all missing pieces of puzzle fell in the right place as they put in a emphatic performance against Bangladesh  to win the match by 55 runs.The second match of the Super 10 stage in T20 World Cup 2016 was played at Eden Gardens,Kolkata as Pakistani Skipper Shahid Afridi won the toss and decided to bat first on good batting wicket.

Pakistan openers Sharjeel Khan and Ahmed Shehzad got off to a flier with flurry of boundaries to put pressure on Bangladesh seamers Taskin Ahmed and Al-Amin Hossain.Ahmed Shehzad scored a sublime innings of 52 runs and formed a 95 run partnership with Mohammad Hafeez to lay an ideal platform for other batsmen to increase the rate of scoring in last five overs.Mohammad Hafeez top scored with 64 runs and returned to good form after a string of low scores in the recently concluded Asia Cup.He played well and kept the scoreboard ticking to maintain Pakistan’s momentum in the innings.

The icing on the cake for Pakistan’s innings came when Skipper Shahid Afridi came to the crease ahead of Umar Akmal and blazed away opposition bowlers with fours and sixes.Afridi scored 49 runs off 19 balls to take the team to post 201 runs after 20 overs.The innings by Afridi was morale boosting one for his sake as his performances have not been up to the mark in previous games in the T20 format.

Bangladesh in reply got off to a wretched start as Soumya Sarkar saw his stumps clattered by searing delivery from left arm pacer Mohammad Amir.Sabbir Rahman and Tamim Iqbal momentarily put on a partnership to revive the Bangladesh innings but the turning point of the game came when Shahid Afridi got the prize wickets of Sabbir Rahman and Tamim Iqbal to shift the momentum of the game towards Pakistan’s side.

When left arm spinner Imad Wasim got the wicket of Mahmudullah,Bangladesh were reeling at 71 for 4 after 10 overs.Shakib-ul-Hasan put up a valiant display with a fifty as he was the sole batsmen to make any impression in the game The Bangladesh’s innings never got going as Pakistan won the game by 55 runs to start on a winning note in WorldT20 2016.
