Pakistan produce excellent all-round performance to upstage England by nine wickets in one-off T20 game

The one-off T20 game was played between Pakistan and England at Old Trafford in Manchester. It was an important for Pakistan side as new captain Sarfaraz Ahmad needed to perform well in order to end the tour on a good note. Pakistan steamrolled England by nine wickets as openers Khalid Latif and Sharjeel Khan got off to rampant start to see them put on 107 run opening stand to make the game a one sided contest. England bowling looked poor as they carted around for fours and sixes as Sharjeel and Latif punished anything erred in line and length.

Sharjeel was in sublime form as he scored 59 runs off 36 balls and was aggressive against the England bowlers. He struck seven fours and three sixes in his innings to put his side in a box seat in the game after England scored 136 runs from their 20 overs. England leg spinner Adil Rashid was only bowler who ended with respectable figures while the rest were expensive on the night. Sharjeel ultimately fell as he tried to play a leg side hoick against the spin of Adil Rashid to be caught by fielder Moeen Ali.Khalid Latif carried on with good work done at the start as he scored unbeaten 59 runs alongside Babar Azam to see his side win the game in the 14th over of the innings.

Eoin Morgan won the toss for England and elected to bat first to put a big score in the innings. The side did get off to a rollicking start as they were placed at 50 for no loss in 6 overs. Imad Wasim was impeccable with his left arm spin as he took out openers Alex Hales and Jason Roy in quick succession to put pressure back on England. Wasim bowled really well as he conceded 15 runs in 4 overs and took two wickets. Joe Root also struggled as he departed trying to play an upper cut off the bowling of fast bowler Hasan Ali, Wahab Riaz was quick to shrug off the disappointment suffered at Nottingham to put a clinical display of fast bowling as he dismissed Eoin Morgan and Jos Butler to put England in deep trouble. The left arm pacer was great in his line and length as he picked 3 wickets to see England reduced to 110 for 6 after 16 overs. Pakistan was splendid on all fronts in the game while England looked wavered with the format.
