New-look Australia eye positive start against high-flying India

Teams face-off in first T20I of three-match series on Saturday in Ranchi

Australia, reigning world champions in the 50-over format, is going through a difficult patch to say the least, especially away from home. After humiliation in the recently concluded ODI series, there is some added pressure on captain Steve Smith to produce better results, who himself is quite vocal about how his team is not delivering under pressure.

Come Saturday, Kangaroos will be hoping for new luck in the new format, more so after the arrival of fresh faces in the squad. The likes of all-rounders Dan Christian, Moises Henriques and wicketkeeper-batsman Tim Paine are all expected to start in the first match, and the team management will be hoping that they can bring a breath of fresh air in the team.

The top three of Aaron Finch, David Warner and Smith are expected to provide platform for the rest to capitalize in the later stages in the innings. In the bowling department, pacer Nathan Coulter-Nile will be looking to continue his good form and lead from the front, whereas young leg-spinner Adam Zampa is also expected to start after a long time for his national side.

For India, things look smooth after an impressive outing in the ODI series, and there are not many changes expected in the final eleven. The top three of Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and Kohli are expected to provide platform for the likes MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya to provide big runs in the last stages of the innings.

However, in the bowling department, there is some uncertainty as only two of Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Ashish Nehra and Bhuvneshwar Kumar will cement their place in the final eleven. There are chances of rain in the afternoon, whereas the pitch behavior remains unknown as it remained under cover for the last few days because of continues bad weather.
