Pakistan Cricket Board has appointed former leg spinner Mushtaq Ahmed as a bowling coach for Test series against England. Mushtaq Ahmed is also the head coach at National Cricket Academy at Lahore. After the culmination of test series against England, the role will taken over by Azhar Mahmood who will perform the duties of bowling coach in One Day International and T20s.Steve Rixon is also appointed as fielding coach for the Pakistan side for the Tour and there is yet to a formal confirmation about the news.
Pakistan will tour England for four tests, five Odis and a T20 from July to Sep this summer. Mushtaq Ahmed was an integral part of coaching setup in different positions since 2014.He does have a credible experience of playing and coaching in England and has worked with England Team as well. He will be on the tour with Pakistan for the test series. Azhar Mahmood will join the team for the one day series and a single T20 game. Mahmood can’t join the side at the start of the tour since he still has a playing contract with Surrey so Mushtaq will adequately fill the role of bowling coach in Tests. Mahmood is offered a one year contract with Pakistan side as a bowling coach.The newly appointed fielding coach Steve Rixon has worked with Australian side from 2011 to 2014 and was part of coaching staff headed by Mickey Arthur. Pakistan batting coach Grant Fowler and Trainer Grant Luden also received extensions on their contract after completing two years with the Pakistan side.
