Mohammad Irfan, Sohail Tanvir put in splendid bowling performancees to setup a comfortable for Multans Sultans. Shan Masood-led unit registered a comfortable six-wicket win over Peshawar Zalmi in the 8th match of 2020 Pakistan Super League at Multan Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.
The day started with Multan Captain Shan Masood winning the toss and opting to bowl first. Mohammad Irfan provided early breakthrough as Tom Banton perished for a single-digit score. Kamran Akmal and Haider Ali led the recovery for Peshawar Zalmi and added 31 runs for the second wicket. Sohail Tanvir came into the attack and dismissed Kamran Akmal to see Zalmi lose their second wicket.
Medium-pacer Mohammad Illyas dismissed Shoaib Malik and Liam Livingstone in his first over to see Peshawar Zalmi in spot of bother at 41 for 4 after 5.3 overs. Haider Ali and Liam Dawson fought hard and put on a 44-run partnership.
Haider Ali was the standout performer with the bat for Peshawar Zalmi. He played well and finished with the top-score of 47 runs off 27 balls with the help of six fours and two sixes. He was well supported by Dawson,who chipped in with 22 runs off 23 balls with the help of one boundary.
Sohail Tanvir came back in his second spell and picked up three wickets to dismiss Peshawar Zalmi to a below-par of 123 runs in 18.3 overs.
In reply, Hasan Ali and Rahat Ali made early inroads with the new-ball to reduce Multan Sultans to 10 for 2 after 2 overs. Left-arm quick Wahab Riaz got rid of Shan Masood to see Multan Sultans in all sorts of trouble at 31 for 3. Wicket-keeper Zeeshan Ashraf failed to repeat his batting heroics from the previous game to see Multan lose their fourth wicket with just 47 runs on the board.
Rilee Rossouw and Khushdil Shah came together and formed 77-run partnership to steer Multan Sultans to a comfortable victory. Rilee Rossouw was the star of the show for Multan and scored 49 runs off 42 balls with the help of 7 fours and one six. He was well supported by youngster Khushdil Shah, who scored unbeaten 43 runs off 29 balls with the help of four boundaries and two sixes.
