Mohammad Sami’s four wickets hands Jamaica Tallawahs their first win of the competition

Andre McCarthy and Mohammad Sami came good for Jamaica Tallawahs to see them secure earn their first win of the Caribbean Premier League in the sixth game played against Barbados Tridents at Lauderhill Cricket Ground in Florida.

Barbados Tridents got off to worst start possible as they slumped to 52 for 5 after 11 overs in pursuit of 155 runs posted by Jamaica Tallawahs. Barbados Captain Kieron Pollard played a defiant knock of 62 runs to keep his side in the hunt. Pollard single-handedly held the innings together as others perished for low scores around him.

Dwayne Smith, Shoaib Malik and Nicholas Pooran failed to produce any scores in this game. Pakistan’s Mohammad Sami was the star of the show for Tallawahs as he bagged four wickets and conceded only 12 runs from his 4 overs. He smashed three fours and three sixes to see Tridents only 25 runs off the last two overs.

Sami bowled splendidly well to dismiss Wahab Riaz and Kieron Pollard in the penultimate over of the innings to Jamaica Tallawahs notch up their first win of the competition.

Earlier, Kumar Sangakkara and Lendl Simmons laid down a good foundation to the innings. Simmons played well for his 30 runs before McCarthy cashed in to score 60 runs off 44 balls. He smoked three sixes in his innings and added 84 runs with Shakib Al Hasan to see Jamaica post 154 runs from their 20 overs.

Barbados Tridents will take on St Lucia Stars in their next game while Jamaica Tallawahs will collide with Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League.
