The Pakistan Test Captain Misbah-ul-Haq has called for all his players to focus on their game and adjust to the conditions in England where they will play four Tests, five Odis and a single T20.Pakistan did leave for England on 18th June on Saturday. The side under Misbah-ul-Haq is determined to shed all the bad memories of the last tour by putting in a bigger performance this time around. There is reason to believe as the side has been consistent in Test Cricket since last five years.
Pakistan last played Test series against England in UAE in October 2015.Since a lot of players including Misbah-ul-Haq have not played that much competitive cricket. Azhar Ali, Wahab Riaz and Sarfaraz Ahmed are the only exceptions as they have played consistently in all three formats. The Pakistan squad announced earlier this week only contains three players with the likes of Mohammad Amir, Wahab Riaz and Azhar Ali who played in the Pakistan side that last toured England in 2010.
Misbah said that it will be a tough and challenging tour due to conditions in England are ideal for swing and seam movement. He said the batting line-up has been fairly consistent for last couple of years and there is every reason to believe that the side will do well on the tour against a formidable side like England. Pakistan side do face uphill task as they have not won a Test series in England since 1996 when Pakistan won 2-0 to win. The last two tours have ended in England beating Pakistan in a comprehensive fashion as they were beaten 3-0 in 2006 series and 3-1 in 2010 series. Pakistan side is ranked no.3 in the world in Test Cricket and will looking to make amends of their previous tours to England this time around.
Misbah-ul-Haq said that the players must be focused on their game and should refrain from English media to avoid undue controversy on the tour. Mohammad Amir is also raring to make a comeback into Test Cricket after completing his five year ban due to spot fixing scandal on the last tour of England. He further said that Mohammad Amir has learned the harsh lessons of life as he would try his best to prove his mettle against the best side in the world.
