The second T20 game of the series between Srilanka and South Africa was played at the Wanderers in Johannesburg. The visitor finally managed to end their drought with a win by three wickets in this game as captain Angelo Matthews led the way with the bat to see the side come out on top in a low scoring game. Matthews remained unbeaten till the end and scored 54 runs to see the side close out the game in the last over.
The South Africa new look side did impress in the last game as players Lungi Ngidi once again showed promise with the ball. The fast bowler picked up key wickets of Kusal Mendis and Dhananjaya de Silva to see the side in all sorts of trouble in the early overs. The duo of Dinesh Chandimal and Angelo Matthews once again put on a crucial 51 run partnership to keep the side in the hunt to chase a score of 114 runs posted by the hosts South Africa.
Earlier in the game, Farhaan Behardien won the toss and opted to bat first on a good surface produced for the game. The spinners did the damage for Srilankans as Lakshan Sandakan and Isuru Udana as South Africa failed to build any partnership in their innings. The spinners flummoxed the South Africa inexperienced batting lineup to see them roll over for a low score of 114 runs from 20 overs.Heino Kuhn and Skipper Farhaan Behardien chipped in with 20s while the rest could only muster single digit scores to see the visitors notch up their first win on the tour.
The series is level at 1-1 as final game will be played at Newlands, Cape Town on Wednesday but Srilanka will hope Angelo Matthews will recover in time for the encounter after sustaining an injury during this game.
