Masterclass from Warner catapults Sunrisers Hyderabad into the final of Indian Premier League 2016

In the Qualifier 2 in ninth edition in the Indian Premier League saw Sunrisers Hyderabad take on Gujarat Lions at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi. It is was must win game for both sides as the winner will meet Royal Challengers Bangalore in the finals of Indian Premier League 2016.

David Warner led from the front to produce scintillating performance by scoring unbeaten 93 runs to win the game by 4 wickets while rest of batting order flattered along to keep Gujarat Lions in the game.Bipul Sharma turned out to be surprise package for Sunrisers as he partnered Warner to score 27 runs off 11 balls to put on 46 run partnership to take Sunrisers Hyderabad to victory over Gujarat Lions. The Sunrisers started as they lost two quick wickets of Shikhar Dhawan and Moises Henriques to give see a sniff of a chance to Gujarat Lions. Sunrisers were placed at 33 for 2 after 5 overs.

Yuvraj Singh came to the crease and struggled to get going as he perished against the spin of Shivil Kaushik. Dwayne Bravo trapped Deepak Honda leg before wicket to make Sunrisers 4 down for 75 runs after 11 overs. Ben Cutting also departed as he was dismissed by Shivil Kaushik. Sunrisers Hyderabad was placed in a precarious situation with 46 runs off the last four overs and David Warner remaining at the crease.Bipul Sharma rose to the occasion as he cracked a big six off the bowling off Praveen Kumar and also struck big six hits against Dwayne Bravo to bring the equation down to Sunrisers Hyderabad needing just 5 runs off the penultimate over. Warner sealed the win with a run to take his side through to the finals of Indian Premier League 2016.

Earlier in the day, David Warner won the toss and decided to field first on slow surface at Feroz Shah Kotla. Gujarat Lions started badly as they lost their opener Eklavya Dwivedi and captain Suresh Raina to be placed at 19 for 2 after 3 overs. Brendon McCullum got a start and but failed to convert as he departed after scoring 30 runs off 29 balls to the slow left arm spin of Bipul Sharma. Dinesh Karthik also fell for 26 runs after trying to take a needless run to see Gujarat Lions placed 81 for 4 after 12 overs. Aaron Finch produced a vital half century off 32 balls to stabilize the innings and steer his side to post 162 runs on the board. Dwayne Bravo came in and played a brisk cameo of 20 runs off 10 balls before being cleaned up by a full length delivery from pace bowler Ravendra Jadeja.

The final will be played between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore on May 29th at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium,Bangalore.
