Off-spinner Saeed Ajmal has stated that he is determined to make an international comeback for Pakistan in the future. Ajmal brushed aside rumors of retirement circulating in the media by clearly saying that he has still has something to offer to Pakistan . The legendary spinner who once was an unstoppable force with the ball has clearly stated that he would like to play cricket and make a comeback into national side. Pakistan Cricket Board also has delayed the plans for giving a grandeur farewell to Pakistan’s prolific all-rounder Shahid Afridi. Ajmal has not played for almost one year but good performances in the domestic circuit might see him in national colors in any time soon.
He recently played in National T20 Cup while representing Karachi Blues and took 20 wickets in the tournament. He said that he would still like to play limited overs and T20 cricket. His performances in T20 tournament does merit a national call for Pakistan. The spin maestro said that he has worked hard on his game and improved his fitness to a considerable degree. He promised that if he failed to deliver on his international return then he will immediately call it quits from the game.
In the recently concluded domestic T20 tournament, he played a pivotal role in helping his side clinch the title with economy rate of just over 6 runs an over. Pakistan Cricket Board did not offer him a national contract for 2016-17 season as he failed to perform well in the one day series against Bangladesh. Only time will tell whether the spinner could make a successful return on the international stage.
