Kolkata Knight Riders trump Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets

Kolkata Knight Riders all-round brilliance helped them overcome Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator game of Indian Premier League played at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Gautam Gambhir scored unbeaten 32 runs to help Kolkata chase down a score of 48 runs off 6 overs after it started to rain heavily after end of Sunrisers innings.

Nathan Coulter-Nile was the pick of the bowlers for Kolkata as he picked up three wickets. Kolkata will now face Mumbai Indians in the Qualifier 2 to see who goes through to play finals of Indian Premier League against Rising Pune Supergiants.

Robin Uthappa and Chris Lynn came out as opening combination in order to chase down a revised score of 48 runs off 6 overs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed Lynn after being smashed for a six in the first over of the innings. Yusuf Pathan was sent up the order and but perished to see Kolkata lose two wickets in quick succession.

Chris Jordan came into the attack and dismissed Uthappa for 1 to see Kolkata in a precarious situation. Gautam Gambhir came to the crease and played a composed innings. He formed a partnership with Ishank Jaggi to see the side cruise to 7-wicket win over defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Earlier, bowlers produced a terrific performance to limit Sunrisers to a below-par score of 128 runs off 20 overs. Umesh Yadav and Nathan Coulter-Nile were superb upfront while spinners kept a tight lid on the scoring. David Warner played well but the rest of the batting lineup failed to produce anything to see Sunrisers go out of the tournament.
