Royal Challengers Bangalore reached an all-time low with the bat to be shot out for 49 runs in pursuit of 132 runs posted by Kolkata Knight Riders in the 27th game of Indian Premier League. The hosts Kolkata Knight Riders bowling performance was top-notch as Virat Kohli and co crumbled on a lively surface like never seen before in the competition. Nathan Coulter-Nile and Chris Woakes turned out to be chief destroyers with the ball in hand as Royal Challengers failed to respond a surface that offered plenty of movement under lights.
Earlier, Kolkata got off to blazing start as they scored 52 runs off 4 overs to lose momentum and get bundled out for 131 runs in 19th over. As visiting side having likes of Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli, RCB lost the game in a shambolic way to lose the game by 82 runs. Royal Challengers Bangalore tally of 49 runs is now lowest total in the history of Indian Premier League.
The fall of wickets when Kohli fell for a duck off Nathan Coulter-Nile and then Manish Pandey also fell for low scores. AB de Villiers started with two boundaries but mistimed a short delivery to get a top edge only for wicket-keeper Robin Uthappa to take a clean catch to see Coulter-Nile claim his second wicket of the innings. Kedhar Jadhav also was undone by extra bounce as he flicked a ball towards short-midwicket to see Coulter-Nile take this third wicket of the game.
Kolkata bundled out Royal Challengers Bangalore inside 10 overs as likes of Sunil Narine and Kuldeep Yadav were not even required to ball in the game as pacers took all the wickets in the game. Royal Challengers are now at bottom with two wins out of seven played while Kolkata are second with five wins under belt so far in the competition.
