Kings XI Punjab register a narrow win over Rajasthan Royals

Kings XI Punjab registered their fifth win of the season with a narrow-win over Rajasthan Royals in a game played at IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali on Tuesday. Lokesh Rahul and David Miller produced decent scores to post a competitive score on the board.

In reply, Rajasthan Royals fell 12 run short of the target despite valiant performances from Rahul Tripathi, Sanju Samson and Stuart Binny.

Chasing 183 runs to win, Rahul Tripathi and Jos Buttler got the side off to a brisk start and added 38 runs for the opening wicket. Arshdeep Singh dismissed Buttler with a slower delivery to see Rajasthan lose their first wicket.

Sanju Samson came to the crease and added 59 runs with Rahul Tripathi to see Royals keeping the scoreboard ticking at a good rate. Captain Ravichandran Ashwin delivered a crucial spell to dismiss Samson to see Rajasthan lose momentum in their innings.

Captain Ajinkya Rahane failed to up the ante in the innings and saw Royals needing 66 runs off 24 balls. Rahul Tripathi played well and scored 50 off 45 balls with the help of four boundaries. He was dismissed in the 16th over of the innings as Ashwin picked up his second wicket of the innings.

All-rounder Stuart Binny fought hard till the end and smashed unbeaten 33 off 11 balls with the help of two fours and three sixes. In the end, Rajasthan succumbed to their sixth defeat of the season.

Lokesh Rahul, David Miller and Captain Ravichandran Ashwin delivered crucial performances to help Kings XI Punjab beat Rajasthan Royals in a game played in Mohali.

Earlier in the day, Rajasthan Royals won the toss and elected to bowl first. Kings XI Punjab got off to decent start as Chris Gayle and Lokesh Rahul added 38 runs in space of five overs. Gayle looked in menacing form and scored 22-ball 30 runs before being dismissed by pace bowler Jofra Archer.

Lokesh Rahul played well and held the innings together for Kings XI Punjab in this game. On the other hand, Mayank Agarwal produced a brisk cameo in order to increase of scoring in the innings. He scored 26 off 12 balls with the help of one four and two sixes. Leg-spinner Ish Sodhi dismissed Agarwal to see Kings XI Punjab lose their second wicket with 67 runs on the board.

David Miller started his innings in a cautious manner and put on a 85-run partnership with Lokesh Rahul to take Punjab score beyond 150 runs. Rahul was dismissed in the 18th over by left-arm medium pacer Jaydev Unadkat. He scored 52 off 47 balls with the help of three fours and two sixes.

On the other hand, Miller continued to play well and kept the scoreboard ticking for Punjab. He scored 40 off 27 balls with the help of two fours and two sixes.

Ravichandran Ashwin produced a crucial cameo at the end to help Kings XI scored 182 runs in their 20 overs. He smashed one four and two sixes off the final over of Dhawal Kulkarni to see the side post a competitive score on the board.

For Rajasthan, pace bowler Jofra Archer was standout bowler with three wickets to his name. The rest of the bowling attack conceded more than nine runs an over against Kings XI Punjab.
