Delhi Capitals will rue the fact they should won the game against Kings XI Punjab. With the visitors needing another 23 runs off 21 balls, Delhi capitulated badly at the end to lose to Kings XI Punjab in a game played at IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali. With this result, Delhi succumbed to their second defeat of the season.
All-rounder Sam Curran, who came in place of injured Chris Gayle, delivered a pitch perfect over at the end to see Delhi lose the momentum at the back end of the innings. Mohammad Shami also picked up crucial wickets to see Delhi lose the game by 14 runs.
In pursuit of 153 runs, Rookie opener Prithvi Shaw perished for a first-ball duck to see Delhi lose their first wicket. Captain Shreyas Iyer and Shikhar Dhawan added 61 runs to rebuild the innings. Pace bowler Hardus Viljeon got rid of Iyer in the eighth over of the innings. He scored 28 off 22 balls with the help of five fours.
Captain Ravichandran Ashwin produced a special delivery to trap Dhawan right in front. Left-hander scored 30 off 25 balls with the help of four boundaries.

Rishabh Pant formed a 66-run partnership with Colin Ingram to put Delhi in a strong position to win the game. Pant scored freely against spinners and chipped in with 39 runs off 26 balls. He was dismissed by pacer Mohammad Shami, who provided crucial breakthroughs for Punjab in his second spell.
Ravichandran Ashwin showed excellent fielding skills to get rid of Chris Morris to see the momentum change in favor of Kings XI.
Curran dismissed Harshal Patel, Kagiso Rabada and Sandeep Lamichhane off three consecutive deliveries to become the first English bowler to take a hat-trick in the Indian Premier League. Mohammad Shami and Ravi Ashwin also picked up two wickets apiece.
Earlier in the game, Punjab made a change to their playing XI as Sam Curran came in place of Chris Gayle. All-rounder was surprisingly promoted to open the innings and smashed 20 off 10 balls. Lokesh Rahul and Mayank Agarwal failed to deliver runs with the bat.
Sarfaraz Khan formed a nice partnership with David Miller to rebuild the innings for Kings XI Punjab. The duo added 62 runs for the fourth wicket.
Sarfaraz scored 39 off 29 balls with the help of six fours. He was dismissed by Leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane to see Punjab lose their fourth wicket in the 14th over of the innings.
On the other hand, Miller looked in no mood to slow down and smashed two consecutive sixes to keep the scoreboard ticking.Miller scored 43 off 40 balls with the help of four fours and two sixes. Mandeep Singh chipped in with nice cameo as Punjab could only 39 runs in their last five overs.
For Delhi, Chris Morris was standout performer with three wickets to his name. Sandeep Lamichhane and Kagiso Rabada also picked up two wickets apiece.
