Pace duo of Kagiso Rabada and Keemo Paul delivered superlative performances to help Delhi Capitals beat Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 30th game of the Indian Premier League played at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad.
Hyderabad suffered another big collapse after David Warner and Jonny Bairstow got the side off to a perfect start in the chase. Hosts Sunrisers Hyderabad certainly will be worried by the way they lost the game to Delhi Capitals.
Chasing 156 runs to win, David Warner and Jonny Bairstow put on a 72-run partnership for the opening wicket. Bairstow was certainly the aggressor and scored 41 off 31 balls with the help of five fours and a six. He was first to be dismissed as medium-pacer Kemo Paul provided crucial breakthrough for Delhi Capitals.
Captain Kane Williamson’s poor continued as he perished for a low score. Kemo claimed his second wicket of the game to see momentum shift towards Delhi Capitals.
Opening batsman David Warner anchored the innings for Sunrisers Hyderabad and added crucial partnerships with Jonny Bairstow and Ricky Bhui.
Kemo Paul came into the attack and dismissed Ricky Bhui to see Sunrisers lose their third wicket with 101 runs on the board.
Pace bowler Kagiso Rabada produced a match-winning spell and dismissed David Warner and Vijay Shankar to see the fortunes turn in favor of Delhi Capitals. The lower-order failed to produce any run as Chris Morris picked up three wickets to see Sunrisers get bundled out for 116 runs in 18.5 overs.
Besides Warner and Bairstow, Sunrisers Hyderabad lost their last eight wickets for just 15 runs. The middle-order has looked out of sorts as the team management will need to come up with better plans in the next game.
Kemo Paul and Kagiso Rabada picked up seven wickets between them to help Delhi register a comfortable win over Hyderabad.
Earlier in the game, Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and elected to bowl first. Openers Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan perished for low scores
Colin Munro played a counter-attacking innings to put the pressure back on Sunrisers bowling lineup. He added 49 runs with Shreyas Iyer to rebuild the innings for Delhi Capitals.
Munro scored 40 off 24 balls with the help of four fours and three sixes. Left-hander was dismissed in the eight over of the innings to see Delhi lose their third wicket. Captain Shreyas Iyer once again played a crucial innings for the side. He added 56 runs with Rishabh Pant to see Delhi cross 100-run mark in their innings.
He was dismissed in the 16th over of the innings to see Delhi reduced to 125 for 4. Rishabh Pant and Axar Patel chipped in with cameos to see Delhi post 155 for 7 in 20 overs.
For Sunrisers, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Khaleel Ahmed bowled well and picked up five wickets between them. Leg-spinner Rashid Khan delivered a tidy spell of bowling and conceded less six runs over.
Medium-pacer Kemo Paul was named player of the match for his splendid bowling performance.
