India’s ace pacer Ishant Sharma out of the first test at Kanpur against New Zealand

The test series between India and New Zealand is shaping up to be a closely contested one. The hosts are in good shape but have suffered a setback as their premier fast bowler Ishant Sharma is ruled out for the first Test at Kanpur due to Chikungunya Virus. He will be the missing the start of the series as there were reports of widespread cases of Chikungunya and Dengue in the city of Kanpur for a past week or so.It was rumored that the test might begin with empty seats as lot of people down with the virus and are currently treated in various hospitals across the city.

Ishant Sharma has led the Indian attack for a long time now and has been in good formĀ  of late in test cricket grabbing wickets against every opposition be it home or away conditions . It remains to be seen as to who will replace for the game as no probable names have not yet been mentioned by the selection committee.Bhuvenshwar Kumar and Umesh Yadav are also there in the squad for test series against New Zealand. India slated to play three test matches at venues like Kanpur, Kolkata and Indore respectively.

On the other hand, the touring side New Zealand progress has also hampered by injuries to their front line pacer Tim Southee who will not take part in the series due to ankle injury. All-rounder Jimmy Neesham also suffered from rib injury and is ruled out for the first game against India at Kanpur. Fast bowler Mathew Henry has been called up in place of Tim Southee while there is yet to be replacement named for Jimmy Neesham.
