India completed a crushing win over Ireland by 143 runs in the second T20 game played at Malahide Cricket Club, Dublin. Hosts Ireland crumbled in the chase and were bundled out for just 70 runs to see India complete a clean sweep in the two-match T20I series.
Indian spin duo Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav did most of the damage as they picked up six wickets between them to help their side register a mammoth victory.
In the chase, Umesh Yadav got an early breakthrough for the side as he dismissed Paul Stirling in the first over of the innings. Stirling once again failed to make an impact for Ireland with the bat. Williams Porterfield could not last a few deliveries as Umesh Yadav pick up his second wicket of the innings. James Shannon also perished for a low score as Siddharth Kaul took his maiden wicket in the T20 format.
Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal came to the attack and immediately dismissed Andrew Balbirnie to see Ireland slump to 30 for 4 after 6 overs. Hardik Pandya dismissed Kevin O’ Brien for a duck to see Ireland in all sort of trouble. It all went downhill for Ireland as Chahal and Yadav ran through the lower order to see the side dismissed for just 70 runs in 12.3 overs.
Earlier in the day, India lost Virat Kohli in the second over of the innings. Lokesh Rahul and Suresh Raina formed 106-run stand to put India in a great position to post a big score on the board. Rahul produced a fabulous innings of 70 runs off 36 balls with the help of six sixes. Raina also chipped in with 69 off 45 balls. Hardik Pandya and Manish Pandey produced brisk cameos to see India post 213 for 4 from their 20 overs.
For his scintillating innings, Lokesh Rahul was named player of the match.
