Men in Blue will face Proteas in third of five-match series on Wednesday
Virat Kohli-led India will be looking to create history when they will face South Africa in the third ODI of the five-match series in Cape Town on Wednesday. The Men in Blue will take the field knowing very well that they will have a chance to register a rare ODI series win on the land of Proteas if they manage to register a victory.
India will be flying high on confidence after two thumping victories in the first two matches, which means no changes are expected in the final eleven for the all-important clash. In the batting department, the team will be once again depending on captain Kohli and middle-order batsman Ajinkya Rahane to provide stability.
In the bowling department, the focus will be once again on the wrist-spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal, who so far has managed to claim 13 wickets combined in just two games. For the home side, the series is proving to be a much tougher test than first anticipated, and is getting even tougher with the increase in a number of injuries.
Already three senior pros, captain Faf du Plessis, veteran batsman Ab de Villiers and wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock has been ruled out for a different amount of time.In their absence, the role of opener Hashim Amla, who had a horrid time first in Test series and now in ODI format as well, becomes even more significant.
The team management will also be hoping that veteran all-rounder JP Duminy and David Miller will join the party and help the team in posting something competitive on the board. In the bowling department, the focus will be once again on the pace trio of Chris Morris, Kagiso Rabada, and Morne Morkel, whereas the spin department will be led by leg-spin Imran Tahir.
The pitch is expected to assist pacers, but there will be a consistent bounce for the batsman to take advantage of, whereas the weather is expected to stay fine throughout.
