Pakistan completed a comprehensive victory over Hong Kong in the second game of Asia Cup 2018 played at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
The bowlers did a fantastic job to dismiss Hong Kong for just 116 runs in 37.1 overs. In pursuit of 118, Pakistan completed a comfortable chase with Opener Imam-ul-Haq producing an unbeaten half-century.
Pakistan got off to a decent start as Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq added 41 runs in space of eight overs. Zaman perished to an innocuous delivery from Ehsan Khan to see Pakistan lose their first wicket. Imam-ul-Haq had all the luck going his way as umpire ruled him not out despite a close leg-before-wicket review.
The 22-year-old added another 52-run partnership with Babar Azam to take Pakistan one step closer to victory. Ehsan claimed his second wicket of the innings as he dismissed Azam in the 20th over. Babar Azam played well and scored 33 off 36 balls with the help of three fours and one six.
Imam-ul-Haq notched up his half-century and steered Pakistan to register an eight-wicket victory over Hong Kong. Imam finished unbeaten on 50 runs off 69 balls with the help of three fours and one six.
Nizakat Khan and Anshuman Rath got starts for Hong Kong but failed to go on and get a big score. Medium pacer Faheem Ashraf dismissed premier batsman Rath to see Hong Kong placed at 32 for 2 after 8.5 overs. Babar Hayat and Christopher Carter perished for low scores to see the side in all sorts of trouble.
Kinchit Shah and Aizaz Khan showed fightback as the duo added 53 wickets to help Hong Kong cross the 100-run mark in their innings. Aizaz scored 27 off 47 balls with the help of two fours and one six. Hasan Ali and Usman Khan broke the partnership and ran through the lower order to see Hong Kong get dismissed for 116 runs in 37.1 overs.
For Pakistan, Usman Khan was the standout performer with the ball with three wickets. Shadab Khan and Hasan Ali also produced tidy spells and picked up two wickets apiece.
