Hosts India eye one-day series win over Australia in Ranchi

India will be looking to clinch the one-day series when they take on Australia in the third game at Jharkhand Cricket Association Stadium, Ranchi on Wednesday. Hosts India will be determined to win their fourth one-day series on the trot.

On the other hand, Australia will need to win this game in bid to stay afloat in this five-match one-day series. The visitors have not won a bilateral one-day series since January 2017. Australia will need to raise their game with bat and ball to turn things around in this five-match one-day series.

India

Hosts made make changes to their playing XI for this game. Lokesh Rahul might come in place of Ambati Rayudu for the no.4 position in the batting order. Shikhar Dhawan will under pressure as he has gone through a lean run with the bat. Left-hander will be keen to produce something special with the bat.

Indian Captain Virat Kohli smashed 40th ton in limited-overs cricket to see India edge out Australia in the second game of the series played in Nagpur. Rohit Sharma and Vijay Shankar also chipped with runs in the previous game.

Rishabh Pant might come in place of Vijay Shankar for this game. Bhuvneshwar Kumar is also available for selection and might come in place of Mohammad Shami for this game.

Pace bowler Jaspreet Bumrah once again proved that is number one bowler in limited-overs cricket. He produced crucial breakthroughs at the end to see India beat Australia by 8 runs and take 2-0 lead in the five-match one-day series. Left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav once again picked up crucial wickets in the previous game played against Australia.

Australia

The visitors will need someone from the batting order to score big hundreds in order to post competitive scores on the board. Usman Khuwaja has done a decent job for the side at the top of the innings. Captain Aaron Finch also scored 30-odd runs in the previous game. Marcus Stoinis, Alex Carey and Peter Handscomb played well for Australia in the previous game.

Glenn Maxwell will need to deliver with the bat after a string of low scores in the previous two games. The side will continue to field two spinners for this game as well. The spin duo of Nathan Lyon and Adam Zampa bowled well in tandem and picked up wickets for the side in the previous game.

Pat Cummins has certainly improved his game in white-ball cricket. He finished with four wickets to his name in Nagpur. Nathan-Coulter-Nile also delivered a decent performance in the previous game.

The pitch prepared for the game will certainly suit the spinners. India might go in with three spinners. The forecast for the game is dry and sunny.
