Shai Hope and Shimron Hetmyer’s brilliant innings helped West Indies in registering an impressive draw in the second ODI of the five-match series against India on Wednesday.
The day started with the home side winning the toss and opting to bat first in perfect batting conditions.The decision proved to be a correct one as the Men in Blue registered a mammoth total of 321 for the loss of six wickets in their allotted 50 overs.
The star of the show for India was Captain Virat Kohli, who scored his 37th ODI century and remained unbeaten on 157 off just 129 balls with the help of 13 fours and four sixes.During that knock, Kohli also became the quickest to reach 10,000 runs in the 50-over format in just 205 innings.For West Indies, off-spinner Ashley Nurse was the star of the show as he claimed figures of two for 46 in 10 overs. Leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo also bowled well and conceded less than five runs an over from his full quota of overs.

In reply, the visitors had a poor beginning as they lost three wickets for 78 runs in 12 overs. But from there on, it was Hope and Hetmyer who dominated proceedings with a 143-run partnership for the fourth-wicket to put the West Indies on top. West Indies duo kept the scoreboard ticking along nicely at good rate. Hetmyer continued his good form in this game as well and has really been the in-form player for West Indies during this one-day series.
But once the latter departed in the 32nd over, the home side made a grand comeback, started to pick wickets at regular intervals and restrict the opposition to 321 for 7 from their 50 overs.Shimron Hetmyer scored 94 off just 64 balls with the help of four fours and seven maximums. For India, left-arm Chinaman Kuldeep Yadav was the star of the show as he claimed figures of three for 67.
